My name is Rick Sanderson – I am a Gestalt counsellor registered with UKAHPP. I trained in the late eighties with the IDHP in Bath and in 2005 – 09 at East Down in Devon with CHPC. In 2011-12 I added a Gestalt Psychotherapy training year and am currently writing a dissertation. I spent three years working with GP referrals and have been working with clients in private practice since 2008. Until recently my practice has been based in Bath, Somerset. I have recently moved most of my work to West Cornwall, seeing clients in the studio of the beautiful garden 3 miles west of Penzance. This affords a quiet, safe and confidential space in a rural location, easily accessible with good parking. I work one to one with individuals both short term and on an open ended basis, subject to review. My depth of training in human experience is complimented by my work as an artist.
You are welcome to call me on 07522 900 527 or 01736 811261 or email me through the Contact page. Mobile reception is not common at the house. Messages can be left on the answering service of the landline number. My artwork is available to view on a separate website at
People come to seek help from counsellors, coaches and other therapists for all kinds of reasons. Depression, panic and stress are common. As are difficulties with relationships and confidence issues. Many people experience creative blocks and anxieties inhibiting personal expression. There are pressures which impact upon our sense of personal space and upon past wounds that we bury and carry hidden, but which take away our energy nonetheless.
The creative philosophy of Gestalt counselling and psychotherapy is appropriate to understanding, supporting and healing through many life situations and conditions, helping you to navigate through a range of emotional and psychological challenges.
It is both healing and empowering to develop greater awareness of your self and the patterns of relationship which frame your world. Therapy/counselling/facilitation, whatever word we use, can assist you in this process at whatever level you wish to work. I have experience of working with the ordinary and extraordinary, with difficulty and damage, celebration and support.
Within boundaries of safety and confidentiality there will be space for talking and unburdening, also for exploring, for experimenting with different courses of action, and for working imaginally and creatively. For some people there is a greater need to just talk, for others to use imaginal tools. The right way of working is the way that suits your need the best.
If you want to find out more you can phone for a short conversation without charge, and arrange an initial session. You are also welcome to email.
I am a member of UKAHPP and work according to the code of ethics of that professional body.
